The Global Skills Technology and Adoption Survey Report

Mercer’s Global Skills Technology and Adoption Survey, an exclusive survey for users of skills technologies and platforms, offers insights into how companies leverage digital technologies in their journey to becoming skills-powered organizations.

For many, the journey is well underway. Sixty-eight percent of surveyed HR leaders track and manage skills across their organization. For 65%, an internal talent marketplace is already baked in (or planned).

As skills become increasingly embedded across a range of HR use cases, greater automation brings an opportunity to reduce manual intervention and enable skills mapping at scale.

Talent marketplace: A game of continuous improvement

  • 57%
of organizations do not have an approach to connect talent to work through a talent marketplace (43% do)
In the next year…
  • 38%
of those that don’t have a talent marketplace plan to establish one
  • 60%
of those that already have a talent marketplace plan to strengthen it
As part of their plans, businesses must be clear on their success measures and the underlying vision behind their talent marketplace. Alignment here improves expectation management and long-term effectiveness. As it stands, three-fifths of organizations are unclear about how their talent marketplace has fared against expectations.
